LB Chapter 1.3
When Yingge came back, Xie Lanyin had already finished dressing. On her upper half, she wore a lotus red butterfly and flowers gown and beneath, wore a white long skirt that had lily pad leaves embroidered on it. At 13, miss was already taller than those her age with a slender figure. On her ears, carnelian earrings swung lightly which offset her white snow-like skin. Once entranced by the swinging earrings, those who look at the miss once will then be enchanted by her dazzling peach blossom eyes, unable to move from her gaze.
“Miss is really beautiful.” Despite being with her daily, Yingge couldn’t resist praising her miss.
“Has madam come back?” Xie Lanyin lightly asked, her eyes cast towards the mirror and shimmered with pride.
Yingge laughed, “She’s back, she just came back. Miss should hurry over in case madam calls you over.”
Xie Lanyin nodded her head and left Sangzhi to watch over their rooms. She took Yingge and left …
In the front of the temple, Ms Jiang sipped a cup of hot tea and lamented towards her nephew Jiang Huaizhou, “I do prefer this jade water tea, it’s so sweet and clear. When I hadn’t married to your paternal uncle, I’d come to Mount Hua every summer for a summer retreat. I loved living at Dianyue temple the most, and only just because of this jade water.”
When she married, she became an official’s wife and thus could not be like a young girl and do what she pleased. To be more demure and dignified, she couldn’t easily leave the house. The last time she had left was when her mother died and revisiting these old places, she reflected on when she was still Jiang family’s daughter, playing and going where she pleased. She stared into the tea and lost herself in her thoughts.
Jiang Huaizhou saw that his paternal aunt was still reflecting nostalgically and then thought about the treatment he received at the Xie family. Suddenly, he became unhappy and said, “If paternal aunt likes, we’ll stay here for a while longer. It’s still quite early before my big brother marries so I’ll send a letter and tell father not to worry.”
Based on Jiang family’s wealth and power, what man couldn’t his paternal aunt have married? It just happened so that she was tricked by some musclehead, causing her to move far away from Xianxi to Hangzhou, all by herself. But even if his paternal uncle was good and treated his wife well, and didn’t disdain her for not giving birth to a son, his step mother and the head mother of Xie family were absolute witches.
The rumour mill says that even before the second wife Ms Chen married into the Xie family, she already had illicit relations with her cousin (paternal uncle’s father), which made his father hate his first wife. After the first wife died, Ms Chen was allowed into the residence and treated her step son awfully. This witch couldn’t grind the father so she turned her aim to her daughter in law.
Ms Jiang knew that her nephew was empathising with her and so she comforted him, “It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s just that I haven’t been back in a few years so I want to quickly go and see the family.”
To her side, Xie Lanjiao who was wearing a male outfit, refilled her mother’s tea and refreshingly said, “Mother, I say, why don’t we quickly head to maternal uncle’s then stay a few days here when we come back? That way, we’ll be cool and I’ll accompany you everywhere. Father even said that mother could stay as long as she wanted to.”
“Mother would be reluctant to do so.” Xie Lanyi delicately said as she walked in. She looked to her mother and smiled, “Big sister shouldn’t listen to father, didn’t you see his eyes when they separated? His eyes were clearly begging mother to come back as soon as possible ... “
“Shut your mouth, to tease even your mother. You’re so grown up now, aren’t you afraid of being laughed at by your cousin? No matter how nostalgic Ms Jiang was, seeing her mischievous daughter made it all dissipate as she fiercely stared at her.
Lan Xieyiin wasn’t even the slightest bit scared as she turned around to sit beside Jiang Huaizhou. She then intimately acted spoiled, “Third cousin definitely wouldn’t laugh at me.”
Jiang Huaizhou used his fan to poke her forehead and sniffed, laughed as he asked, “How is the cream?”
He loved messing around with makeup and creams but unfortunately, he didn’t have any sisters at home. But his maternal aunt had four. His eldest cousin always had a cold face so he’d be scared of getting hit if he sent any creams to her. Even though the second cousin loved to laugh, she had a man’s personality so she spent the whole day doing business. His smallest cousin was only eight so she only love to eat and sleep so obviously wouldn’t even know how to dress up anyways. Therefore, the only one who would receive his hard work would be his most beautiful and most vain Lanyin cousin,
“Very good, of all the creams that third cousin has sent me, I love ‘lovable beauty’ the most.” Having received some good stuff, Xie Lanyin’s smiles became especially sweet.
Xie Lanjiao snickered, “I think it’s not that you like the cream but the name of ‘beauty’, right? All you know to do is be vain all day. You don’t do a single serious thing at all. Have you even mastered the qin, chess, calligraphy or poems?? Big sister specialised in martial arts, second sister did business so they weren’t the good daughters that the elders liked. So as they weren’t girls who liked learning those things, Xie Lanjiao hoped that her other two little sisters would work hard for the sake of their mother.
Xie Lanyin knew what her sister was getting at and glanced sideways at her, “You speak as if you can. At last my needle skills are better than yours.”
Xie Lanjiao laughed, “Yes, you are better than me so don’t come asking me to do your needlework for you.”
“No, ah, you’re my biologically sister. If I don’t come to you, who can I come to?” Xie Lanyin was someone who definitely had no back bone so immediately, she wriggled to her big sister, hugging her money tree, “My second sister is definitely the best …”
On the master seat, Ms Jiang laughed at the two sisters who were quarreling, contentedly …
Why would she have to give birth to sons? She just liked daughters, and don’t say four, even if she gave birth to another, she would still baby it like a treasure.

TL note:
I don't plan on translating any more chapters because this is so heckin long. For those who can read Chinese, it's a pretty simple read. It's a really nice and fluffy story. There is a random melodramatic element that the author had to throw in because otherwise, it would all be smooth sailing for the main couple.
It's a cute story, would recommend, but I have a bit too much on my plate right now.
How cute. Sibling teasing each other :) lol Thanks you for the updates. <3
