Chapter 13.2 - Greeting Gift




Li Jingsheng froze, completely taken aback by what she said.

He had never even thought that that year’s affairs were like this.

He suddenly looked towards the astonished Lou Lianxin, growling, “Lou Lianxin, that year, you told this general that your sister was there to apologise so this general would go over to see her changing. Was this something you schemed singlehandedly?”

Lou Lianxin became flustered, confused as to how things turned out like this.

But Lou Qingwu had no evidence about what happened then so Lou Lianxin hurriedly came up to Li Jingsheng and held onto his arm, “It’s not like that, Jingsheng, listen to me …”

“Enough!”

Li Jingsheng pushed her away.

He was also from an upper class residence so seeing Lou Lianxin’s face became flustered in that moment, he had already guessed what had happened that year.

He uncontrollably felt a wave of disgust.

He lowered his head and smiled at Lou Qingwu, “It’s fine. We’re acting properly with no reason to feel guilty. Furthermore, if it wasn’t for her scheming back then, this general would’ve already been engaged to you.”

Lou Qingwu shook her head lightly, “No, don’t blame little sister, maybe … maybe …”

“Qingwu, you’re too kind hearted.”

Li Jingsheng felt a wave of pity and doting.

If he wasn’t that stupid then, how could he throw away such a beautiful piece of jade? Now, he was regretting it completely.

Unable to restrain himself as he tightened his arms around her, his long legs stretched forward and took large strides into the Lou residence.

He was thinking, maybe it was time for his father to talk over this engagement.

“Jingsheng!”

Lou Lianxin’s face paled, how could .. how could things turn out like this?

Everyone saw a play acted out at the Lou residence for free. So when they looked at Lou Lianxin, their eyes all turned meaningful.

After a long ‘oh’ sound, they curled their lips and thought, within a day, news of the Lou residence’s concubine born daughter scheming the legitimate born daughter would quickly spread throughout the capitol.

Lou Qingwu inside of Li Jingsheng’s embrace lightly lifted her head up, innocently looking at the dumbfounded Lou Lianxin who was still standing at the residence’s entrance.

She lightly sighed, little sister, you seem to be a bit unhappy about this greeting gift. But what to do, your big sister was incredibly happy when she gave it to you.

Seeing Li Jingsheng intimately embrace Lou Qingwu and walk away, Lou Lianxin was about to burst with rage.

She viciously stamped her feet on the ground, she just knew!

She just knew that whenever Lou Qingwu’s there, she’s just dirt next to her.

Even though three years ago, Li Jingsheng doted on her incessantly and wouldn’t even say one harsh word, it all changed with Lou Qingwu.

Lou Qingwu hadn’t even married in and Li Jingsheng was already growling at her, telling to go away.

Then in a few days, wouldn’t Li Jingsheng break off their engagement?

She always thought that the month after she came to age, Li Jingsheng would send the betrothal gifts.

But with the disgusted look he gave her, Jingsheng very likely is considering throwing her to the side in favour of Lou Qingwu.

If that happened, how could she at Lou residence and amongst her circle of friends, keep her head up?

No, she wouldn’t let this happen! She had to think of a way to get father to send Lou Qingwu away again!

Lou Lianxin quickly walked a few circles around the entrance of the Lou residence, her flustered heart slowly calming down.

She viciously stared at the ground and suddenly thought of a plot.

She proudly and coldly laughed, she just couldn’t believe she couldn’t send away that sl*t Lou Qingwu again!

Her pupils moved around as she saw her maidservant Dong Mei.

She waved her hands and Dong Mei immediately walked towards her, Lou Lianxin leaned down and started ordering her …

Note:

Greeting gift - Chinese people give gifts to people when they meet them for the first time, it’s an old custom. If you’ve seen historical Chinese dramas before, you’ve probably seen the scene where an older imperial concubine takes off a jade bangle or some other ornament to give to the female lead.

Coming of age - Normally it’s 15 when girls would come of age and shortly afterwards, they’d get married. The male party would give betrothal gifts as a sign to confirm their engagement and that they would marry very soon.
