Chapter 80.1 - Blind date banquet
Sponsored chapter thanks to Izzy đđ (1/2)
âOh? So second madamâs idea is that the legitimate daughter of the Lou residence canât go, but a concubine born daughter should go instead? Thatâs right, if madam wanted everyone to think that father was the type to dote on the concubines but destroy the legitimate born, the type to forget his roots?â
Her calm voice, that floating voice, coupled with the last phrase, made Ruan Zhenâs face pale.
This dynastyâs empress dowager looked highly upon the difference of legitimate and concubine born, the succession of generations.
Once the sentence of âdoting on the concubines but destroying the legitimate bornâ was placed down, the empress dowager and by extension, the emperor, would increasingly have a worsening impression of him.
At that time, even with Lou Qufengâs position at the left prime minister, he might even have to give up that position.
Back then, when he married Ning familyâs eldest daughter, before the Ning family fell down, they carried him up to his current prime ministerâs position.
Only, who wouldâve thought that such a huge Ning family, would one day collapse into nothing just like that.
Lou Qufengâs face also paled.
He finally knew why the emperorâs facial expression was so bad when he claimed that his eldest daughter had schemed against his second daughter.
He was afraid that someone had already told the emperor and nailed it in front of his eyes.
By the time he tried to distort the truth, he wouldâve looked like an ugly clown, jumping around.
At that time, the emperor would have only tried to keep things down because of the left and right prime ministersâ faces.
But the moment that Lou Qufeng thought about the possibility that the emperor would have a negative impression of him because of his biased views, he immediately stood up.
He was so angry that he was shaking as he turned around, glaring at Ruan Zhen, âSl*t! Look at what youâve done!â
After he finished speaking, he didnât look at Ruan Zhen again before storming out.
Ruan Zhenâs face was shockingly pale, âLao ye âŠ.â
Her pitiful voice didnât stir up Lou Qufengâs pity at all, and right up until she couldnât see Lou Qufengâs silhouette any more, did Lou Qingwu finally lazily sit down.
She looked at Ruan Zhenâs face and innocently said, âSecond madam, fatherâs already so far away, arenât you going to chase him?â
âLou Qingwu!â
Ruan Zhenâs eyes reddened, âWhat do you want to do?â
Ruan Zhenâs eyes reddened, âWhat do you want to do?â
âThis, should be what I should be asking you. What do you want? Or,â Her dark eyes looked at Ruan Zhen, narrowing, âDid you already forget about the assassins that night?â
Ruan Zhenâs original anger was completely wiped away by the word âassassinsâ, âYou, what type of nonsense are you spouting/â
âAh? Did I say something?â She slowly stood up as Lou Qingwu walked towards Ruan Zhen.
Her tall and slim figure, in front of the petite Ruan Zhen, was incredibly imposing.
âOr are you feeling guilty because you know who sent out those assassins that night?â
âWhat would I know?!â
Ruan Zhen screeched, scrambling backwards but she bumped into the back of the table, unable to retreat further.
Lou Qingwu bent down, her smile sinister and cold, âOh? You really donât know? But why did the Huai gang say that they saw madam that night at their hideout?â
âNo way!â She didnât personally order for it, so how could it be her?
âHuai gangâs already been exterminated, donât even try to falsely accuse me!â
âOh?â Lou Qingwu raised a brow, âSecond madamâs news is quite thorough. You already know that the Huai gangâs been exterminated. It should be said, second madamâs one who doesnât step out of the residence, so how did you know that? Qingwu, I, am truly curious.â
Ruan Zhenâs face was white.
Ruan Zhenâs face was white.
Lou Qingwu felt it was about enough before finally slowly straightening up again.
Her whole body was lazy and indolent, but gave off an impression of being incredibly imposing and pressure inducing.
When she stood up, only then did Ruan Zhen finally let out a breath.
She hurriedly tried to straighten up some loose hairs, glaring hatefully at her, âI donât know what youâre talking about? Lao yeâs already gone so Iâm going to go now. You ⊠have a good rest!â
After she finished, she hurried away.
She, how could she know it was her?
And Huai gang?
Was someone still left, alive?
How was big brother dealing with things?!
If this circulated to the empress dowagerâs ears, then that sentence of âdoting on the concubines and destroying the legitimate bornâ would be firmly set down on her.
At that time, no one would be able to save her!
No, she definitely wouldnât let that happen!
Lou Qingwu expressionlessly watched as Ruan Zhen scampered away, before calmly turning away.

TL note:
Lou Qufengâs the type to sell his own mother if it could buy him favour with the emperor.
This title was a bit misleading. We need to get a little more backstory before we get to more fighting and drama, yum.

Leave a comment and follow for an example of a good father xx
But why did the Huai gang say that they say madam
ReplyDelete*saw madam
I've been slacking đđ»ââïžđđ»ââïž
DeleteFine for slacking, two chapters for us tomorrow!
DeleteForgive me đ±đ±
DeleteNo way when it's benefits to us, the reader.
DeleteIt's so laughable of the emperor
ReplyDeleteDespise and hate people who favor concubine than legitimate wife, but does he forget he also favor concubine more than the empress...
I just feel like i want to beat the emperor now rather than lou qu feng.
But i still beating that worse father later...
The emperor's the classic case of "do as I say, not as I do" aka a total hypocrite.
DeleteWe can beat up both of them (but not in real life because I'm weak) đ€đȘ
clown,l -> guessing the ,l shouldn't be there?
ReplyDeleteagain because storming out. -> Because should be before~
He was so angry that he was shaking as he turned around, glaring at Ruan Zhen, âSl*t! Look at what youâve done!â-> Yoooooo, you really think she could do the things she did without implied permission form yourself? Hmph. I hate people running away from their responsibilities the most.
Definitely not fit to be a prime minister ~_~; can't even straighten out his own backyard.
On the other hand, if he knew how to do that LQW probably wouldn't have been sent off or learned any medicine/poison skills and we'd have a pretty boring story instead. ... Naw. Doesn't absolve him. KILL. Rawr.
I've been slacking x10000 đđ»ââïžđđ»ââïž
DeleteLou Qufeng turns a blind eye to most of the things that Ruan Zhen does for the sake of the Ruan family - as long as it doesn't threaten his power or his face. Right now, he's in a bit of hot water with the emperor so he shifts the blame asap. I'd feel bad for Ruan Zhen if she wasn't a total witch đ€·đ»ââïž
In this case, Lou Qufeng is only a good prime minister because he does two things really well. One, be loyal to the emperor. Two, suck up to the emperor. Everything else is secondary and the emperor doesn't inspect his backyard so it's all a-ok.
If he did somehow keep Ruan Zhen in place (dead in an unmarked grave) as well as LLX (also dead), there'd probably be some other strong cannon fodder by Xiahou Qing's side to kick LQW off her position as his empress đđ
Completely forgot about the Ruan family lol >_>; Still! The logic stands, if he could handle his backyard, chances are he wouldn't need to worry about all this nonsense :P
Delete... Hmm... good at being loyal and good at sucking up. ... Looks like we have another concubine candidate. :P This time... For the emperor. (At the rate this is going, Half the males are going to be end up as concubines in my head canon hehe.)
... that's true enough ~_~;
Before LQW came along, he was happy not dealing with any of this đ·
DeleteLooks like I might have to consider doing a reverse harem for my next translation projectđ±
YEEEEEEEEES REVERSE HAREM PLS xD
DeleteIt's hard finding a reverse harem that's not just 99% smut đŁđŁ
DeleteThank you for the chapter~
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading đđ
