Chapter 249.1 - The exchange
The matron of honour didn’t think the new bride would ask that.
She looked up at the handsome man next to the bride and immediately said, “Aiyo, what kind of marriage doesn’t have bowing to the sky and the earth? It’s changed and changed again, the bride must be shy, come, come, bow to the sky and the earth!”
Lou Qingwu stiffened and didn’t move but she couldn’t let everything just stop.
She was somewhat reluctant as she felt the matron of honour help to lower down to kneel on the ground.
She then heard the master of the ceremony chant and sing.
“One bow to the sky and the earth --”
“Second bow to the high altar --”
“Groom and bride bow to each other --”
“Ceremony complete! Send them to the wedding chamber --” Lou Qingwu kneeled down and suddenly her head was spinning again.
She even felt like her breathing wasn’t right.
Suddenly she realised something was wrong.
Her brows were furrowed deeply as she opened her mouth to say something but she couldn’t say a single word.
Her whole body was soft and limp like a snake.
When the matron of honour went to help her up, she completed the final bow and was then supported to the new wedding chamber.
She felt like she was stuck in a dream.
When the matron of honour helped her over, her mind was blurred, like she wasn’t able to think clearly.
She heard voices coming in and out, as if she was separated from what was happening.
A long time afterwards or maybe just a moment after, or maybe even a few hours afterwards, the doors finally opened.
They opened with a bang.
She heard a voice that she couldn’t believe would be here, say to her, “All leave.”
In a different place.
From the moment the red veil was placed on her head, Ye Ji’s whole body was incredibly limp and her head hurt so much.
She could barely even stand straight.
Even when she was getting into the palanquin, someone had to help her by carrying her.
Originally, it was strange to her that the matron of honour didn’t notice a single thing was wrong, just letting her be carried into the palanquin like that.
They just let her limply lean to the side of the palanquin.
She wanted to shout for someone but she couldn’t even get a single word out.
But at least she heard Feng Yege’s voice as someone kicked on the door of the palanquin and that was when she passed out.
When she woke up again, her arms and legs felt even more weak and limp.
She still couldn’t get a single word out but her head was strangely very clear.
Her face was pale was she looked at the red veil on top of her head.
The whole world was red to her.
When she felt the palanquin sink down, she heard someone walk over.
She thought it was the matron of honour getting ready to support her out.
But in the next moment, she heard an absolutely shocking voice.
“Master, be careful, ah. I’ll come and help you now, quickly come and bow at the altar, then you’ll be the most beautiful bride.”
Lan Bai?
Why was this woman here?!
Ye Ji opened her mouth but found she couldn’t say a single word.
She could even feel Lan Bai use her weight to support her, to help her stand evenly.
But she could only limply stand there.
For a few steps, she actually felt herself being dragged along.
She heard Lan Bai explain to her, “Master didn’t sleep well last night so she’s feeling unwell today. Young master*, what if we make today’s ceremony a bit simple? I’m worried my master won’t be able to take it.”
“There’s nothing wrong with Qingwu is there? Do you want to ask the imperial doctor to see her?”
“No need, no need. This kind of big joyous day, how could we ask for the imperial doctor to come? There’s nothing really wrong with the master, just that she was so excited that she didn’t sleep well yesterday. I’ll just help her inside and then the master can have a good rest in the wedding chamber.”
“Ah … okay. If there’s anything wrong, make sure you let the housekeeper know.”
“Okay, master, don’t worry.” Lan Bai did her best to reassure him and patted her chest.
She was so close to Ye Ji that she could feel Ye Ji’s whole body shake.
When no one could see, her lips jerked.
Afterwards, she placed a ball of silk in Ye Ji's hands.
Ye Ji wanted to scream, she wanted to shout but she couldn’t get a single word out.
She could only feel herself being dragged towards the wedding chamber.
Her face was pale.
She didn’t know why she was back at the third prince’s residence?
Shouldn’t she be at the Night Prince’s residence?
What was this wretched Lan Bai saying?
When did she become Lou Qingwu?

TL note:
*Young master - the Chinese translation is more like ‘son-in-law’, like male master that has been to her female master, it’s a bit tricky to translate but she’s referring to Xiahou Qing here
