Chapter 25.2 - To gain his favour

Lou Qingwu soundlessly lifted up her head, looking at the man next to Xiahou Liuyun.

He was tall and thin, wearing a dark silk brocade robe which made him seem even more coldly handsome.

His dark eyes were like a dried well,and made people want to drown in them and even without saying a word, were bright enough to make people notice.

Lou Qingwu had only seen Xiahou Liuyun in her past life, she hadn’t see Xiahou Rui before.

In her past life when she followed Xiahou Qing back to the capitol from the countryside, it was already a year later.

At that time, the second prince Xiahou Rui had already been sent to his own fiefdom and from then on, they never had any interactions.

She had heard that the second prince was honest and indifferent, not someone who was very sociable so apart from the current empress and seventh prince, no one could gain his favour.

So who knew that he’d actually be willing to help her.

Or maybe he only did it for Xiahou Liuyun.

But no matter what, when she thought of his ending in the past life, Lou Qingwu lowered her eyes, hiding a momentary flash in her eyes.

Countess of Chaoxia heard Xiahou Rui’s words and how could she still not realise that this time, she had been used as a weapon by Lou Lianxin.

She was so angry that she was shaking and when she looked at Lou Lianxin, her finely made-up face was twisted.

She lifted up her hand and viciously slapped Lou Lianxin’s face, angrily growling, “Lou Lianxin, this countess sincerely treated you as a friend, so how could you betray this countess like this?”

“I …” Lou Lianxin covered her face with her hand in disbelief.

Up until now, she hadn’t fully taken everything in.

How did everything change so fast?

She looked at the countess’ fierce and sinister face and suddenly, became afraid.

“Countess, listen to me explain …”

“Explain? What else do you have to explain? Go away! Don’t let this countess see you ever again!”

She growled as she turned around and when she saw Xiahou Liuyun and Xiahou Rui, she pulled in the anger on her face, forcing her face into a smile.

“I let big brothers see a joke.”

Xiahou Rui’s face didn’t change much and just indifferently shook his head, pretty much expressing his meaning.

Xiahou Liuyun looked at Lou Lianxin’s half swollen face and laughed without showing his teeth.

“It wasn’t a joke, not a joke. Seventh brother’s feeling extremely comfortable now! Yiren little sister, when you came out, empress-mother was reminiscing about you. You should hurry and enter the palace. In a while, second brother and I will come to find you.”

“Okay, then Yiren will go now.”

Watching the Countess of Chaoxia leave, everyone else turned to bow and greet Xiahou Liuyun and Xiahou Rui before also entering the palace.

Lou Lianxin was still covering her face, her whole person withered.

Only her eyes showed her hatred, why had things turned out like this?

Why was the second prince and seventh prince actually helping Lou Qingwu that sl*t?!

What is there worth helping her for?

Isn’t it just because of her sly fox face?!

Looking at the Countess of Chaoxia’s expression just then, she’s most likely already lost the backing of the countess!

She bit her lip hard, but not matter how much she was full of resentment, she wouldn’t dare to offend the two princes in front of her.

So all she could do now was continue covering her face, force a smile and try to fawn over them, as if the scene before didn’t happen at all.

But because she wasn’t smiling sincerely, her fake smile only made her face look even more distorted.

Xiahou Liuyun watched her unsmiling, completely ignoring her.

Xiahou Rui’s eyes didn’t even fall on her face.

Lou Lianxin was so angry her heart was starting to hurt and could only comfort herself by telling herself that she didn’t see anything.

She bent her legs and tucked her tail between her legs as she also began to leave.

But as she was about to leave, she hatefully glared at Lou Qingwu.

It was only a coincidence that Xiahou Liuyun saw that too.

TL note

Fiefdom - the princes who don’t get to be emperor, most of the time, get sent away from the capitol and get allotted lands “fiefdoms” that they lord over. The emperor (their father or the prince who ascends) does this to kill their hopes of being emperor, keeping them away from scheming in the capitol. Most of the time, they’re quite far away and don’t come back except for exceptional circumstances, ie. a large birthday or a death.
