Chapter 20.1 - To want and not get

“How?”

“... To want and not receive.” This was more interesting than when they lived a life horrible enough to beg for death.

Behind them all, second madam Ruan Zhen sashayed her hips as she walked in, her beautiful face displaying a warm and gentle smile.

“Qingwu ah, look at these items, do you like them? You didn’t even say a word when you came back so second mother couldn’t even prepare things for you. Because everything’s so last-minute, second mother could only temporarily find something ordinary for you. I hope you don’t dislike it too much.”

As she spoke, she blinked at Lou Qingwu, her expression motherly and affectionate, as if she was really a benevolent mother who was just concerned about her loving daughter, it’s a shame that …

Second madam addresses herself as second mother because she’s LQW’s step mother.

The ‘soft silver lily gauze gown’ sounds like it’s an awkward description but it’s actually a type of dress. This detail will be important in a few more updates.
