Chapter 82.1 - Finale
Thanks to lurkerteacup for the chapter (2 / 2) 💕💘✨
Tang Xiao PK’D Su Bai, won the award for best supporting actress and publicly announced her relationship with Mu Cheng at the awards ceremony.
This didn’t stop even after a week.
Everyday on Tang Xiao’s weibo, there would be lots of tourists.
As for Wanyu Media and Mu Cheng’s office phones, they were about to burst from all the calls.
The next day, Wanyu Media sent out a media release, officially confirming Tang Xiao and Mu Cheng’s relationship.
After the dust settled, Tang Xiao went on weibo again.
After so many days, the frenzy around her weibo still hadn’t stopped.
Su Bai’s fans and Tang Xiao’s anti’s were in full force, cursing at Tang Xiao that she was relying on Chief Ning and Mu Cheng to get to where she was.
They said that after she was dumped by Chief Ning, Mu Cheng then became her sponsor, and how Tang Xiao was also sponsoring other male celebrities, how Tang Xiao was actually close to three men, etc, etc.
Tang Xiao kept swiping through the topics before a hand suddenly covered the hand she had on her mouse.
She slightly turned to the side and saw Mu Cheng’s side profile. His brows were furrowed, he looked as if he was holding his emotions in.
“Don’t look at it, the media’s always like that.” Mu Cheng closed the page.
Tang Xiao was unaffected. “It’s fine, I treat it like I’m reading a web novel, it doesn’t affect me at all.”
Mu Cheng slightly smiled, “Do you regret going public with our relationship? There are too many downsides with the media and the paparazzi, I’m scared you’ll regret it.”
Tang Xiao shook her head, “I won’t regret it. To me, being able to hold your hand and walk with you side by side, makes me happier than anything. It’ll stop after a while.”
“Tang Xiao, Chief Ning protected you too well before, to let you live under the sun and do what you want to do. Now that it’s me, you can continue living like that, or you can be even more free, more reckless. I’ll let you do it all, dote on you. I hope you don’t suffer anything at all, and I hope that the reckless and unbridled little Tang Poem doesn’t lose her joy when she’s by my side.”
Mu Cheng treated everyone with warmth and respect, so she’d never seen him angry.
Even when he was facing off with his third uncle.
It wasn’t that he was just not warm or dull, like a cup of warm water but that the warmth had a bit of distancing with it.
She knew this from the first time she saw him.
When she greeted him for the first time, Mu Cheng smiled at her but his smile didn’t reach his eyes.
Afterwards, he used all of his warmth to hold her.
He said that she could be more free and reckless, and that he’d dote on her. He wanted to give the best to her.
Tang Xiao suddenly reached out to touch his temple, leaning over to kiss him.
“... wait.” Tang Xiao suddenly realised something. “You said I can be more stubborn and more reckless?”
Mu Cheng nodded, not knowing what was wrong.
Tang Xiao pouted, unhappy. “Are you saying that I’m very stubborn and very reckless right now?”
Mu Cheng had a forced laugh on his face. She always focused on the weird bits.
“No matter what you’re like, in my heart, you’re already the best.”
“In the afternoon, we have to go to the company, Chief Ning said he wanted to see us about something.” Tang Xiao got an answer she was satisfied with, and let it go.
They knew they still had a long path to go down.
But down this path, they had each other, and it was filled with not only hardships, but also flowers along the way.
Tang Xiao dodged the paparazzi and with the help of Mu Cheng, Chief Ning and Xiao Lin, made it to Wanyu Media.
Originally, there were artists who weren’t commonly seen at the company but they suddenly sprouted like mushrooms after the rain.
Even on her way to the bathroom, she’d meet quite a few artists as well as people who sent her invites for happy things -- to play games together.
Overnight, Tang Xiao became one of the most popular artists at the company, which made her feel a bit strange.
“What is up with them? Overnight, everyone in the world suddenly fell in love with Spirit Road?” After Tang Xiao received the tenth invite from another artist to play Spirit Road, she couldn’t help but roast them.
Mu Cheng laughed. “They didn’t fall in love with Spirit Road, but with you.”
Tang Xiao’s expression suddenly became natural, as if that’s how it should’ve always been. “I understand, someone like me, it’s hard to not love me.”
Mu Cheng: ….
When they reached Chief Ning’s office, Xiao Lin and Mu Jin were both there.
“What are you planning on doing after all this?” Chief Ning asked, without raising his head.
Tang Xiao answered very truthfully, “Play games, stream, wait for dividends.”
“....” Chief Ning gave her a look, realised she wasn’t joking and let out a breath. “I just knew it. Every year, at least one show is my bottom line. Also, I’m planning on packaging you and Mu Jin together. When you get a script, you get Mu Jin for free. Afterwards, you’ll have to manage Wanyu Media, so take this opportunity to learn how to manage it well, do you have any suggestions?”
Tang Xiao’s image to outsiders was that she was crazy, an internet addicted girl.
Fans seemed to love this image, but now that she’d decided to leave the entertainment circle, Chief Ning had to find a successor.
For this image, Chief Ning really couldn’t think of any other artists.

TL note:
Sprouted like mushrooms after the rain - the original phrase was spring bamboo shoots after the rain
