Chapter 82.2 - Finale
Fans seemed to love this image, but now that she’d decided to leave the entertainment circle, Chief Ning had to find a successor.
For this image, Chief Ning really couldn’t think of any other artists.
If he signed on a new artist, it’d be annoying to have to raise them from scratch.
Conveniently, there was a similar one that had already been made, Mu Jin’s foundations weren’t bad too.
“Alright.” Tang Xiao agreed very quickly.
“The studio and Qiao Yiqing have a new film, Mu Jin can be the female supporting lead. We haven’t found a suitable artist for the ending theme song either.” As the Ning family’s future son-in-law, Mu Cheng very readily offered up his own resources. “Mu Jin could give that a try?”
Mu Jin’s expression became very serious. “I can’t sing.”
“En? No problem, there’s autotune.” Tang Xiao thought that she was being humble and reassured her.
However, very quickly, they’d find out that when she said she can’t, Mu Jin really couldn’t. She wasn’t being humble.
That night at karaoke, Chief Ning asked Qiao Yiqing to come over too and said it was an opportunity to take care of Mu Jin.
“Come, sing a song, let director Qiao and the producers listen.” Tang Xiao waved her over.
Mu Jin’s face flashed underneath the light, her expression was very cautious.
She couldn’t reject it any more and chose the theme song for the Third Gender.
When the song started to come on, everyone was happy, eating and drinking.
Very quickly, the vocals started up.
Mu Jin opened her voice and Tang Xiao and Xiao Lin quickly ran out of the room.
Mu Jin really, likely, couldn’t and wouldn’t be suitable for singing.
Compared to Tang Xiao who only occasionally went off pitch, Mu Jin couldn’t even get on pitch to begin with.
Using her broken pitch, a song that was originally expressive, suddenly became a heavy metal type of rock and roll.
Tang Xiao could already see the music producer going crazy.
The room had three men left over, all of them in very deep thought.
Mu Jin also realised that she’d left everyone with a bit of trauma and after singing a few more phrases, turned back on the original backing track and made an excuse to duck out to the bathroom.
“Are you guys serious?” Qiao Yiqing opened his mouth after a few months.
A crack appeared on Chief Ning and Mu Cheng’s faces.
Qiao Yiqing said, “Exactly what kind of horrific and unforgivable thing did I do, for you guys to treat me like this. A Tang Xiao that can’t act is already enough. And now a Mu Jin who sings with such colour, do you really think that I’m that free?”
“Maybe we can give up on the ending theme song.” Mu Cheng sighed.
“I’ll give you guys a suggestion, you can let her and Tang Xiao form a duo, called ‘tormenting people’. In a short period of time, they’ll definitely burst out of Asia and reach the tops of Hollywood and even get an Oscar.” Qiao Yiqing came up with a rotten idea.
Chief Ning felt like he’d likely lost himself after Mu Jin’s singing because he actually began to seriously consider that idea.
On the other side, Mu Jin went to the bathroom and formed the perfect team with Tang Xiao and Xiao Lin.
Tang Xiao and Xiao Lin held each of her hands on either side.
Tang Xiao: “Don’t be upset, we’ve thought of a brilliant idea for you.”
Xiao Lin: “If we can’t make it through our own efforts, just hug onto a huge thigh!”
Mu Jin blinked at them and suddenly had a bad feeling.
Tang Xiao continued to brainwash her. “Right now, there’s a great big thigh. You just have to continue praising Qiao Yiqing. He’s a director, praise him well and he’ll let you become his personal female lead. Then, you’ll become super, super famous!”
On the side, Xiao Lin clapped her hands, “Right! I’ve already thought of an image for you, a ditzy bookworm that goes from the army to the entertainment circle who becomes treasured by a famous director. Right, what school did you graduate from?”
“Yi Dao College.”
“En?” Xiao Lin thought for a moment. “I haven’t heard of it. Is it an international school or?”
“It’s a national school.”
“En? What Yi, what Dao?”
“... Yi as in one is very earnest and Dao as in absolute nonsense.”
Xiao Lin: …. Very earnestly talking nonsense?
Tang Xiao: … are you serious, girl!
That night’s night out did not have a happy ending.
Mu Cheng took Tang Xiao home, parking the car in front of the entrance of the gated neighbourhood as the two walked to the building together.
Under the bright street lights, the two peoples’ shadows merged together, warm and romantic.
“What did Qiao Yiqing say about Mu Jin?” Tang Xiao asked.
Mu Cheng was helpless. “No problems with being a supporting lead, but what happens after is up to Chief Ning.”
Tang Xiao sighed. She suddenly turned around to look at Mu Cheng, her eyes bright and hopeful. “Then are we together out in the open now?”
Mu Cheng looked at her stomach. “If you want to be together in the dark, that’s fine too.”
Tang Xiao: …. Beast!
After teasing her for a bit, Mu Cheng’s mood improved, his eyes were filled with laughter and his face grew warmer under the lights.
I’m already prepared to be the one who loves you the most, and the one you’ll love the most.
