Chapter 70.1 - Jinsi building’s owner

“You!”

Nie Zhen’er was about to go crazy with anger, what was this damn maid servant doing?

“Twenty four thousand taels!”

Lou Qingwu: “Twenty seven thousand tales.”

Nie Zhen’er gripped her fists but feeling her pouch, she hesitated.

Her personal maid noticed that there was something fishy and quickly tried to pull at her master’s hands.

But Nie Zhen’er was driven crazy by angry, how could she care about anything else right now?

She only gritted her teeth and continued to try and beat Lou Qingwu, “Twenty eight thousand taels.”

Lou Qingwu’s mouth corner curled up, “Twenty … nine thousand taels.”

Nie Zhen’er sucked in a deep breath and only barely restrained herself from slapping Lou Qingwu in the face a few times.

Don’t let her ever see this damn woman again, or she’ll definitely let Lou Qingwu understand the consequences of offending her today!

“Thirty thousand taels! Are you crazy, buying a jewelry set for thirty thousand taels! What the hell are you thinking?”

The laughter in Lou Qingwu’s smile only deepened but as just Nie Zhen’er was about to storm away in anger, she smiled radiantly.

She moved back towards her seat, lifting up a hand, “Thirty thousand is too expensive, then please, Miss Nie, you go ahead.”

“Thirty thousand …” Nie Zhen’er thought that Lou Qingwu would continue to raise the price before suddenly biting her tongue.

Uncertainly, she asked, “You really won’t call out again?”

“What, does Miss Nie hope I’ll continue?”

“No! Definitely, no, no.”

Nie Zhen was wildly happy as she suddenly turned around, shouting at the girl next to shopkeeper Jin, “Quickly, it’s mine. “Two birds flying together” is this miss’!”

Shopkeeper Jin’s eyes fell on Nie Zhen’er and then Lou Qingwu before suddenly leaning towards the girl next to her and whispering a few words.

The girl looked at Lou Qingwu strangely before slowly nodding her head.

She then smiled at Miss Nie, “This miss, don’t fret. Rules are set be people and so they should be adhered to. “Two birds flying together” has been bid at thirty thousand taels, is there anyone else with a higher bid than Miss Nie’s?”

There was only silence to answer her but everyone’s expressions all showed that they were full of interest.

The girl called out three more times before knocking, “Okay, this “two birds flying together” is Miss Nie’s.”

“Excellent!”

Nie Zhen’er happily cried out, before turning around and contemptuously snorting a few times, “If you don’t have money, don’t come here. Isn’t it this miss’ in the end?”

Lou Qingwu just smiled slightly and didn’t speak.

Women, ah, the higher they climb … the more tragic they are when they fall.

Nie Zhen’er didn’t have time to deal with Lou Qingwu because she was already rushing towards the stage, stretching her hand to snatch the “two birds flying together” set from shopkeeper Jin’s hands.

Shopkeeper Jin stepped backwards, dodging her.

Nie Zhen’er froze, furrowed her brows, “What are you doing?”

Is she regretting the sale?

The red clothed girl to her right opened her mouth, “Don’t be too anxious, miss, I’ll first say. Rules are set by people and as people of the underground market, we’re especially humane and full of humanity. So shopkeeper Jin just received a notice from the boss of the number one Jinsi building, that this year’s auction will be slightly different.”

“Different how?”

Someone called out.

The girl’s smile grew deeper, “In previous years, the highest bidder won and within three days, the buyer had time to bring the taels to settle the sale. However, today, it’ll be different … it’ll be one hand exchanging the money and the other hand exchanging the goods.”

“What?” Nie Zhen’er’s face changed.

What kind of damned rules, to exchange goods and money at the same time?

Did she have to go back to the residence right now?

“What, does the eldest miss Nie not even have thirty thousand taels?” The girl coldly swept her eyes at her.

Her tone was clearly perfunctory, but still made people feel uncomfortable.

TL note:

Honestly, I was expecting Nie Zhen’er to slap Lou Qingwu for reals. Like I’d be so mad if someone was pretty obviously, raising the price of something I wanted desperately.

Gotta have some empathy for cannon fodder, ya know? #cannon fodder are human too
