Chapter 140.2 - A little bit of betrayal

“I look forward to the next time we work together.”

“Of course.”

She curled her vibrant red lips as Yueji covered her face with a thin face veil again, obscuring her face.

She jumped off the horse carriage and quickly left.

Lou Qingwu then told the carriage driver to loop around before going to the number one Jinsi building and then to the Lou residence.

But when she entered the residence, she was told the second madam wanted to see her.

Lou Qingwu followed uncle Liu to see Ruan Zhen.

When she’d just reached Ruan Zhen’s Happiness and Prosperous Pavilion, she followed the main path into the main hall.

There, she saw Ruan Zhen sitting with a darkened face, looking at her expressionlessly.

Seeing uncle Liu, she waved her hands at him as uncle Liu bent down in a bow before leaving.

A while after, Ruan Zhen stood up and got out from the mater’s position until she reached Lou Qingwu.

“Why did Ruan Xiuren come to find you?”

“Ah, the reason why the Ruan family head came to find me doesn’t seem to concern second mother, does it?” Lou Qingwu lowered her eyes, looking at Ruan Zhen’s delicate face.

“You!” Ruan Zhen sucked in a deep breath to calm the anger rising in her and at the same time, a small thread of unease.

Just as Lian’er was about to marry in a few days, her big brother went to find this little sl*t?

No matter how she looked at it, it seemed very suspicious.

Was she doing something against their backs to try and harm her and Lian’er?

The more Ruan Zhen thought about, the more uneasy she felt.

As these emotions spread, her eyes grew colder, “What did you talk about with big brother?”

Lou Qingwu didn’t reply to her, walking past her and sitting in the imperial consort couch.

Her beautiful eyes looking upwards, “I didn’t really say anything, but, I did see someone.”

“You saw someone?” Ruan Zhen’s brows furrowed, what kind of person would her big brother take her to see?

“I think, second madam would know that person very well.” Lou Qingwu’s smile deepened, but it gave Ruan Zhen chills.

In her heart, suddenly a bad feeling formed.

“Wh-who?”

“Could it be … that second mother can’t guess?” Icy cold fingers slowly moved across her face as her body started to shake.

A face that was incomparably beautiful appeared in front of Ruan Zhen’s eyes as jealousy, fear and unease began to spread on Ruan Zhen’s face.

“Impossible!” Ruan Zhen immediately rejected the idea.

That woman was still unconscious, how was that possible?

“How can second madam be so sure? A person, even if they die, can still be revived. It’s just Thousand Days Intoxicated, that worm, it’s not impossible for someone to just wake up.” Cold words shocked Ruan Zhen into widening her eyes.

“How could that be?” How could that woman wake up? “You, how do you know Thousand Days Intoxicated? Also, did she really wake up?”

No wonder, no wonder her big brother hadn’t come to see her these few days.

That woman … actually woke up? How could that be? The mother worm was still in her hands, how could that woman wake up?

“Second madam looks very unhappy.” Ruan Zhen’s fear and panic pleased Lou Qingwu.

Her fingers brushed past her rip lips as her eyes curved.

Seeing enough of Ruan Zhen’s unease, Lou Qingwu stood up, satisfied.

“It seems like second madam doesn’t have anything to talk to me about, so … let’s see each other on the day that Lian’er little sister gets married.”

She looked deeply at Ruan Zhen’s pale face, slightly narrowing her eyes as she walked past her, taking step by step out of her pavilion.
