Chapter 207.1 - Opening the iron lock

Everyone watched curiously, were these seemingly normal things really able to open a black iron lock?

That really seemed like a fantasy.

Lou Qingwu continued to ignore their looks, so she also didn’t see the contempt in the Countess of Chaoxia’s eyes as she looked down on Lou Qingwu.

Originally, she thought she’d have some sort of real strategy, but it was just this?

Then she’ll wait to see her be humiliated!

Lou Qingwu took the piece of paper and folded it so that there was a pointed end.

She then lifted up the lock on the box and slowly poured the powder into the lock.

When it completely filled up the lock hole, she stopped.

No one understood exactly what was happening, except for one person, Shu Yunyan.

His sickly face was filled with disbelief as he tightened his lips, his expression growing bad.

As his sharp eyes narrowed, Lou Qingwu held up the lock with one hand and with her other, plucked a golden hairpin from her hair.

The pointed part entered the lock as she twisted it around within the lock hole.

A few moments later, a quiet click was heard as the lock opened.

Everyone was shocked.

And Shu Yunyan’s eyes grew dangerous.

Lou Qingwu’s lips curled as she dropped the lock, it clattered to the ground but she didn’t open the box.

This was a gift to the emperor and as a small little countess, she didn’t have a reason to open the box.

After finishing this, she stood up to bow to the emperor. “Subject-girl has presented an ugly display.”

“HA HA HA! This emperor really didn’t look at Qingwu, this child, wrongly. You truly are quite clever.” The emperor let out a relieved breath as his face was filled with smiles again.

Everyone else also let out a breath.

“But, Qingwu, what was that powdered stuff? This emperor knew the stones were graphite but what about the other thing? It can’t be dirt, right?”

“Reporting to the emperor, it isn’t dirt but it is also dirt, it’s loam.”

“OH? Then why could that graphite and loam open up the black iron lock?”

“Graphite and loam by themselves can’t but when mixed together, they make up a peculiar mix. Subject girl doesn’t really know either but I’ve seen someone do it before, so I have tried to humbly copy that skill. When that mixture gets poured into the lock, it can fill up the lock hole as a key, pressing against the mechanisms inside the lock. Afterwards, anything sharp can be used to open up the lock, I’ve let the emperor see a joke.”

“No, Qingwu, your method really is unique! Very good!” The emperor praised her again and Lou Qingwu -- responded to them all.

Then she returned to her seat, catching the Countess of Chaoxia’s twisted face in the corner of her eye.

Lou Qingwu’s mouth corner slightly jerked as she met her eyes.

The Countess of Chaoxia was so angry she was about to faint.

“I don’t know if this satisfies the ambassadors?” The emperor waited for Lou Qingwu to sit down before emotionlessly looking towards the Xiliang ambassadors.

The ambassador hadn’t thought that someone could actually open the black iron chain.

Furthermore, the Countess of Rende had already publicly revealed how to open this lock to everyone.

Isn’t that putting a stop to Xiliang country’s production of superior locks?

That really would make Xiliang country suffer heavy losses.

Right now, he was drenched in a cold sweat but he’d already given his word so he could only continue on.

The ambassador looked towards Shu Yunyan and seeing him nod his head imperceptibly, the ambassador regained his composure.

“Of course we are satisfied, your noble country really has truly talented people. The Countess of Rende really has opened up my horizons. So as the first gift has been opened, let me present this gift to you. I hope the emperor will like it.” After the ambassador finished speaking, he walked over and put his hand on the edge of the box.
