Chapter 207.2 - Opening the iron lock
“Of course we are satisfied, your noble country really has truly talented people. The Countess of Rende really has opened up my horizons. So as the first gift has been opened, let me present this gift to you. I hope the emperor will like it.” After the ambassador finished speaking, he walked over and put his hand on the edge of the box.
As everyone’s eyes fell on the box, the box lid suddenly flew open by itself.
Everyone expected there to be precious gems or stones, but who knew that after the box was opened, a red light emerged from the box.
At the same time, a girl flew out of the originally small looking box.
Her body glimmered with red light, shiny, as it complemented her stunning face.
Her features were exquisite, a small red flower on the centre of her forehead as her red were lips, floating gracefully as she danced.
She was truly a beauty that could overturn cities, as everyone watched, dumbstruck.
All they saw was her beautiful dancing as bells chimed with her movements.
The rhythmic beats were like a chant.
If Su Sheng’s dance at Lou Qufeng’s banquet was bewitching of the soul, then this girl wasn’t even mortal.
She was clearly floating like a fairy, the red haze moving around the room as if you could just touch it.
The red truly was eye snatching.
Then her pale white fingers curved.
Even without zither and music accompanying her dance, no one dared to even bat an eye.
After the girl bowed graciously, everyone finally regained their senses.
“This girl is called Liu Li, I greet the emperor.” The girl bowed on her knees as her two hands pressed against the ground, her body bending forward.
Her forehead touched her hands, revealing a slim and pale waist that when contrasted with her red clothes, made everyone’s eyes widen.
The emperor very obviously stiffened, his eyes growing dark.
To his right, consort Mei glanced at him, her mouth curving in a mocking smile but her hand covered her mouth to hide it.
Luckily, the emperor hadn’t forgotten he was the head of a country so after a moment, he regained his senses, “You have impressive dancing skills.”
“Thank you emperor.” After speaking, she raised her eyes.
“Thank you emperor.” After speaking, she raised her eyes.
Her long and thin phoenix eyes could almost steal a person’s soul.
The emperor coughed, turning away, “Please stand.”
The girl stood, her delicate posture was graceful as the Xiliang people moved the box away.
The ambassador then smiled as he walked to the centre, “Emperor, this is the first gift our country would like to present to you. I hope the emperor doesn’t dislike it.”
How could he dislike it?
If his imperial chambers had another one like her, his life would be filled with entertainment and happiness.
But of course, the emperor couldn't say this out loud.
On the surface, he remained calm as he smiled, “Xiliang country’s emperor really is considerate. How could this emperor dislike it, I am delighted.” The emperor spoke courteously, as if he was only accepting the gift because of Xiliang country.
But everyone knew why he was accepting her.
A beauty like her, even if she was a spy for Xiliang country, would be hard to resist.
“As long as the emperor likes it, that’s good. The second present, is a jade chess set.” This time, the Xiliang ambassador didn’t have any other tricks or hard to answer questions.
He clapped his hands.
Immediately, someone presented something forward.
It was a jade chess set, translucent white as the chess board was as big as a tray.
Under the night pearl’s light, you could almost feel the cold air coming from the jade.
If this was summer, you could sit on the chess board as a cooling sleeping mat, and that really would be a good way of cooling down.

.... They literally locked her up in a chest? I hope they gave her some breathing holes or something lmao. Would be more than a little awkward if they took too long and presented a dead body instead....
ReplyDeleteThat is probably not a big concern. I don't think it is too likely to accidentally make something air tight.
DeleteWith their original plan having her fall asleep or various body parts due to constriction might be. Imagine how that scene would have played out if she couldn't stand if her legs fell asleep. :P
