Chapter 13.1 - Greeting gift




Lou Qingwu looked at her innocently, lifting up a weak and limp small hand to pat her shoulder, “Little sister, can’t you recognise your big sister? Ah, maybe it’s because when I left, my face was all swollen from allergies. But your big sister’s all better now, look … big sister doesn’t look so scary any more so now father won’t send me back to the countryside because you were so scared that you cried at my face …”

Her soft and warm voice floated into people’s ears like the spring wind. The speaker spoke unintentionally, but the listeners heard another meaning.

Everyone finally reacted and unable to restrain themselves, ‘oh’d.

No wonder she changed so much, she had an allergic reaction at the time. But wasn’t the second miss too stubborn?

The eldest miss was only having an allergic reaction, did it really have to warrant her father sending her away because she was a bit ugly? It really was a sin.

Thinking back to the early death of the legitimate wife, those who had idly gossiped and listened to rumours about the Lou family’s courtyard infighting, already came up with the scene of the orphaned daughter being bullied by the step mother.

Ah, what a pitiful little girl.

Thus the past year’s affairs began to water down.

Criticisms came from all four sides and Lou Lianxin felt even more wronged.

Her eyes suddenly widened and looking at the Lou Qingwu in Li Jingsheng’s arm, the clogs in her mind started to turn.

Her lowered eyes flashed viciously but when she lifted her eyes back up, they were already innocent as could be.

She held her handkerchief and wiped away tears, pitifully crying, “Big sister, it’s you. But … but how could you come and snatch your sister’s husband just as you come back? You … with how you’re behaving, how could your little sister have face to see other people? That year … that year, when you wanted to climb onto Jingsheng’s bed, Jingsheng already drove you away. How could you, how could you still not give up and be so shameless?”

She finished howling and everyone froze.

Then they suddenly recalled that along with that year’s dirty laundry, the eldest miss had shamelessly tried to seduce a man and then been drowned in a lake as a result.

But who knew that man was actually General Li. This play was really heating up.

But was this play actually General Li falling in love with the older sister after a few years?

Li Jingsheng froze and didn’t think that Lou Lianxin would actually air that dirty laundry out.

His brows furrowed even tighter, thinking that she was becoming even more unreasonable.

He repressed his anger as he growled, “What are you saying? What do you mean, snatching your husband? This general hasn’t even married you and even if I had, just based on your wretched jealous appearance right now, this general could divorce you! Also, where do you see that we’re having an affair? Just because this general is holding onto Lou Qingwu? Are you blind? Can’t you see that she’s injured?!”

Everyone turned to look at Lou Qingwu and then they finally noticed that her face was almost transparently pale.

The bandages wrapped around her chest and wrapped up towards her neck started to have blood seep out.

This could’ve been because of Lou Lianxin’s actions which caused her injury to tear. The scene was frightening.

It might’ve been because Lou Qingwu was wearing pure white so her bandages blended in, making it hard for people to notice, especially those who weren’t paying much attention to her.

“ … your big sister saved this general because I’m your fiance. She saved me because she didn’t want you to feel upset if anything happened to me, so she took a dagger for me. She nearly lost her life and is still in danger so could this general feel safe letting her go home alone? Then you come here like this, perfect, you’re making us all lose face now!”

Everyone looked astonished, so it was just a misunderstanding.

Then they looked at Lou Lianxin’s strangely, accusing her own big sister like this without any evidence really ….

Lou Qingwu’s eyes slowly reddened as she bit her lip, her long eyelashes dampened with small tear drops, heartbreakingly calling out, “Little sister, that year, you clearly knew the whole story so how could you speak like this? That year, you made my clothes get wet and told me to go into a room to change. But just as I was about to change, second gentleman barged in, big sister didn’t seduce him …”

As if she couldn’t speak any more, Lou Qingwu choked her sobs and covered her face, “Second gentleman, you should just put me down. Even if Lou Qingwu has to crawl home, she’ll crawl to get there!”

Everyone’s hearts tightened, so pitiful!
