Chapter 9.2 - Long time no see




He wore a magnificent brocade robe that accentuated his height, his dark eyebrows and eyes made him look like a deity sent to the mortal world.

He bent down and picked up the bloody mandala flower.

His long fingers rubbed the detailed carvings which caused bits of the bone to stick to his palm.

He ground the bits as his dark eyes flashed, he sighed, it really was human bone?

Silently, he turned around and looked towards the South Pear Rooms.

Under the sun, he basked in golden sunlight and because his face was slightly tilted upwards, his originally dark eyes seemed to turn purple, like clear purple crystals.

Qingwu, long time no see …

When Lou Qingwu walked into the courtyard, the person had already left but she was just in time to see Li Jingsheng walk out with a dark face.

He was ordering his subordinate to burn down the rooms and upon hearing that, his subordinate dropped what he was holding. “Burn, burn it down?” Why?

But when he met Li Jingsheng’s vicious eyes, he didn’t dare to ask and just complied.

He grabbed matches and started setting alight the most flammable items. Not long afterwards, the rooms began to burn magnificently.

The subordinate quickly ran outside but Li Jingsheng still seemed worried. He looked at the things on the floor and just threw them all inside the burning rooms, watching them turn to ash.

Then he turned around and seeing Lou Qingwu in the doorway, he furrowed his brows, “Why are you here?”

If it wasn’t for this woman, he wouldn’t have started arguing with his third brother last night!

Even though he didn’t know if he had killed his third brother, he couldn’t let go even the smallest trail of evidence.

If his father and grandmother knew that he had killed Li Ziqing, then all of his hard work would’ve been for nothing!

Lou Qingwu stood and listened to him but she didn’t walk closer, her face was still pretty and obedient, “I only came to look around. If I disturbed second gentleman, then Lou Qingwu will first leave.”

Her dark eyes filled with light, warm and caring, and unknowingly, made Li Jingsheng’s heart soften.

He felt like he was being too suspicious and quickly walked towards her, comforting her, “This general spoke too harshly. I didn’t sleep well last night so my mood isn’t too good. Miss Lou, please don’t be offended.”

“How could I?” Lou Qingwu’s smile was still clear and generous.

Her eyes swept and fell to Li Jingsheng’s arm. She tilted her head and her eyes flashed with worry, “Second gentleman, did you get injured?”

Li Jingsheng stopped blankly, followed her line of sight and seeing the cut up sleeve reveal his wound, quickly comforted her, “It’s nothing!”

“How could you say it’s nothing?” Lou Qingwu disapprovingly walked towards him.

She lifted up her head slightly, her big wet eyes were filled with worry. “Second gentleman, let Qingwu help you bandage your wound, okay?”

“...” Li Jingsheng wanted to reject her but looking at those genuine eyes filled with worry made him feel as if his heart had been grabbed by her small hands.

His body felt limp and numb, in all of these years, there had never been someone like her who had ever truly cared about him.

His heart filled with warmth and finally, nodded his head. “ … Okay.”

Then he saw the girl in front of him laugh brightly and naively, as if she had received the most amazing gift.

Her smile was so innocent and clean, it made him uncontrollably also lift up his mouth corners.

His cold and rigid face let out the most reluctant smile but his eyes couldn’t move away from her.

Watching her carefully bandage him, he stared fixedly at her fair and tender neck that appeared before his eyes.

Slowly, a ball of fire unfurled from his lower abdomen upwards until his eyes filled with a complicated emotion.

“Okay, it’s done!” Lou Qingwu finished bandaging and tilted her head to shoot him a light smile.

Li Jingsheng felt something explode in his head, his whole body became scalding hot as he suddenly stretched his arms forward and grabbed her shoulders.
