Chapter 5.2 - Return of Ziqing




The people stared at Ziqing warily, suspiciously and in a frightened manner.

What happened?

Could it be that it really was just a piece of art? But, but … how could someone draw something so life like?

Too scary! They were too frightened to get anywhere near Li Ziqing.

Li Ziqing was too lazy to deal with them, stared at them and then turned his head around to stare pointedly at Lou Qingwu’s face. He stared at her face like he couldn’t wait to stick his own right on top of hers.

“Miss Lou, we see each other again.”

It seemed like he had forgotten some things. He had forgotten last night’s kidnapping, the feeling of that cold knife on his skin and at this moment, he was just flattering him, trying to scheme his way onto her bed.

“Yes, we are seeing each other again.” That soft and gentle voice paired with a soft and gentle slight smile made Li Ziqing’s whole body feel like it was beating faster.

Not far away, Li Jingshen furrowed his brows, this girl again?

His face became cold as he walked closer, “Second brother, shouldn’t you introduce us?”

Then Li Ziqing finally responded, stretched his hand out and grabbed Lou Qingwu’s hands. The people around them couldn’t help but suck in a deep breath as they looked worriedly at the girl.

Lou Qingwu lowered her eyes and looked at her hands. She tilted her heads and still, just as gentle as before, looked at Li Ziqing with those big wet eyes that made Li Ziqing suddenly feel as if he were committing some crime. He hurriedly pulled his hand away and embarrassed, rubbed his head. After a few rubs, he stopped blankly, ah, why did he give up such a good opportunity?

Lou Qingwu’s smile grew deeper and then turned around towards Li Jingsheng, “Second gentleman, it’s been a while.”

“You recognise this general?” Li Jingsheng threateningly narrowed his eyes.

“I know you.” She stepped towards him, her dress swaying as she walked, her eyes curved as she spoke innocently, “Don’t you remember me? She tilted her head.

“Of course, it’s already been so many years. But it might not be soon that second gentleman will have to call me ‘big sister’.”

Li Jingsheng’s eyes grew even more threatening. Big sister?

“Ah, right. I forgot to introduce myself. I’m … Lou Lianxin’s first sister.”

Her sister, clean and cold like pure jade, something that you’d pity as soon as you set her eyes on her.

She really suited her name, Lou Lianxin, (lian- to pity, xin - heart).

She sighed lightly, that gentle voice for some reason, made Li Jingsheng feel uncomfortable. But that feeling didn’t affect him as much as when he heard “Lou Lianxin”, the three letters that make up the name of his fiancee? Then he looked Lou qingwu up and down again, then finally remembered, “You’re Lou Qingwu?”

No wonder why he felt she looked a bit familiar, she was that ugly girl!

When he remembered this, Li Jingsheng felt like he had just swallowed a fly. He remembered that clammy feeling from all those years ago.

He’s the capital right prime minister’s second son, a proud youth with a high official position. Lou Qingwu and Lou Lianxin were the left prime minister’s beloved daughters so obviously, they had seen each other a few times. Furthermore, his father had previously wanted them to ally themselves in marriage.

When he had first seen them, he had actually liked Lou Qingwu first as she was the first daughter and Lou Lianxin was just concubine born.

But who would want to marry a girl who was ugly, brutish, had a face full of red marks and at first sight, had shoved a snake into his hands?

That year, the girl who was brutish, had fiercely ugly makeup was really this gentle, warm and stunningly beautiful girl?

Up until when Li Jingsheng had arrived at the Li’s residence in Liyang town, he still couldn’t believe it.

He couldn’t help but look towards the calm girl who was sipping tea across from him in the lobby.

Her smile and her scowls, even his little sisters who had been brought up since they were small couldn’t compete with her presence. To the point where he thought, her presence compared to his aunty, the empress …

He narrowed his eyes and hid away his thoughts. He lifted his cup of tea, “So why would Miss Lou come to this place?”

“Just passing by.”

“Passing by?” Li Jingsheng humphed. As if he would believe that.

Lou Qingwu just smiled and understood what he was thinking. She also knew what he was thinking during his previous silence. Three years ago when the Lou family and the Li family planned to marry, her father agreed to Li Jingsheng as the most capable gentleman and at that time, she had also agreed.

It was only a pity that her good little sister had also liked him.

So it was then, only a few days before, her good little sister gave her some medicine that she was allergic to. Her face became filled with hives and she became absolutely horrific to look at. She was young and fearing that Li Jingsheng would dislike her, she asked her younger sister for help.

Then, her sister drew the ugliest makeup she had seen in her lifetime for her.

Furthermore, she purposely told her that he liked snakes. For the sake of leaving a good impression, she reigned in her fear of snakes and offered a snake to Li Jingsheng as a gift.

But who knew that Li Jingsheng’s biggest fear was snakes.
