Chapter 113.2 - Forced on the path of no return

After Tang Er left, Lan Bai couldn’t help but ask, “Master, are you really going to see the Ruan family head?”

“Sure, why not?” She lit a candle and started to burn shopkeeper Jin’s letter.

Lou Qingwu’s eyes deepened as she looked at a dried up tree through the window.

“We’ve prepared for so long, so we obviously have to get some results.”

But, she was a bit curious about what the Ruan family head would choose.

Would he choose to save Ruan family’s reputation or would he continue to accept Ruan Zhen’s threat, giving her the ten miles of wedding festivities that she wanted?

She, was really curious.

The next day, Ruan family’s head arranged a time to meet with the number one Jinsi building’s largest stakeholder at the capital’s largest restaurant.

He arrived two hours early.

They still hadn’t received any news about Ruan Xiang so he could only prepare for the worst.

If the golden devices still couldn’t be found, then he could only try to find a way to press this matter down.

But he didn’t know if this number one Jinsi building’s stakeholder would be easy to talk to.

If they weren’t, then he was afraid ….

He rubbed his forehead, his anger towards the second family growing even more.

But they’d already come to this point so he could only suffer in silence.

He just hoped that this would all be able to pass peacefully.

When the arranged time came, the room’s door was knocked punctually.

Ruan Xiuren’s eyes lit up as he lifted up his chin towards the housekeeper to his side.

The housekeeper immediately went to open the door.

When he opened the door, he turned to the side and shopkeeper Jin appeared in front of Ruan Xiuren.

He stood up and smiled towards shopkeeper Jin, “Shopkeeper Jin, it’s been a long time.”

But his eyes went past shopkeeper Jin and were drawn to the person behind her.

He saw a girl wearing a lotus root coloured gown with a silver white fox mask.

Only her eyes were revealed, clear and beautiful that held an almost empty type of naivete in them.

Ruan Xiuren took a second look at her before looking behind her.

But he didn’t see anyone.

He couldn’t help but feel a bit anxious, did the stakeholder change his mind?

When he saw shopkeeper Jin and the girl enter, he stretched out his hand to let them sit down across from him.

He couldn’t help but ask, “Shopkeeper Jin, the stakeholder didn’t …”

Shopkeeper Jin covered her mouth as she looked at him, avoiding his arms.

Instead, she let the girl behind him sit on the seat that Ruan Xiuren had provided, the master’s seat.

She stood to her side.

Ruan Xiuren froze, “Shopkeeper Jin, you?”

Shopkeeper Jin turned to look at him, “This is our number one Jinsi building’s largest stakeholder.”

The astonishment in Ruan Xiuren’s eyes grew, but he was versed in the world’s affairs so he quickly regained his composure.

“So this person is. It is this Ruan person who lacked knowledge, to not be able to think that the number one Jinsi building’s largest stakeholder could be such a young girl. I’ve been impolite.”

“It’s okay.” Lou Qingwu purposely lowered her voice, it sounded slightly different to how her voice normally sounded.

It was low and deep and if you weren’t paying attention, it would’ve been hard to notice.

“Ruan family head, please take a seat.”

Ruan Xiuren didn’t shuffle around and sat down across from Lou Qingwu.

He poured tea for her and himself before looking at her a few more times, “I don’t know how I should address this boss?”

“Young girl’s surname is Mu.”

“Good! Boss Mu, let’s speak clearly. Today, Boss Mu should know what this Ruan person came here to talk to you about.”

“Of course, I heard from Ah Jin.”

She lifted up her cup of tea and took a sip, slightly nodding her head.

“Then, I don’t know how Boss Mu wants to treat this faulty golden devices problem?”

“The fake golden devices have already been returned. If the Ruan family head can provide my Jinsi building with the golden devices we need by the time that we agreed on, then this Mu person isn’t one to be unreasonable. I can treat this as if it never happened.”

She slowly looked at Ruan Xiuren, clearly expressing her position on the matter.

But, that is if he could provide them “by the time that we agreed on”.
