Excerpt from Quickly travel system, the male lead is evil

I was reading this novel and nearly spit out my water. Here's like 1/4 of the chapter + review afterwards.

The last few lines are the punchline.

Male lead - Huai Ge

Female lead - Ranqi

Huai Ge’s voice was low but every single word was dripping with honey, “I really want to apologise for everything that I’ve done. If there’s nothing next time, I’ll definitely tell you my plan and won’t make you worry. It was all my fault, so forgive me, en?”

“Next time … I’ll definitely tell you beforehand, I promise!”

Huai Ge spoke confidently but in his heart, he thought: there won’t be a next time.

As his words fell, Ranqi’s body suddenly started shaking.

This type of gentle Huai Ge was like a completely different person, completely changing her entire view of him …

TL note: 

The cub references are real. It's a story set where there are on humans, everyone's some kind of animal. So when you're a baby, you're a baby animal until you grow up and drink enough of this chemical which makes you "grow" into a human. It's a bit hard for two different animals to naturally conceive so you can adopt cubs of your own to raise.

The male lead's original form is a golden snake and the female lead is some kind of expensive chinchilla hahaha. The male lead gets the female lead when she's just a little cub and kind of raises her but as always, she grows up in like a few years.

There's also a cute scene where they're sleeping, platonically ok, in the same bed and the female lead suddenly jolts awake because she felt danger coiling around her, like someone was about to eat her. Duh, chinchilla = bottom of the food chain. She asks the male lead if he tried to eat her, because his original form is a snake after all. The male lead turns to the side but his face is slightly flushed, but his expression is cold and haughty as he denies it. Which means that he confirmed it.

It's an inter dimensional travel novel so this animal kingdom/futuristic setting is only for ~50 chapters before the female lead dies and moves elsewhere. The rest of the novel is crazy angsty because the male leads are psycho. The male lead here is a bit sadistic, poking her when she's just a baby chinchilla. But one of the male leads had actual mental issues stemming from when he saw the female lead die in his first first life.

The male lead goes into uncontrollable rages, never hurting the female lead, but he destroys things and he grows scared that he'd one day accidentally hurt her. So he begins to hurt himself. He cuts his legs and because he doesn't let the female lead grow intimate with him, she never finds out. She even thinks that he's doing better because she's making him hurt potatoes so that he doesn't hurt himself. But he's just better at hiding it and some of the cuts are even deep enough to see bone. His brother grows furious because he finds out and the female lead is guilt-ridden because she knows that he's just going insane because he keeps remembering her death. When they grow old together and he grows senile, he insists on going back to the city and to the hospital room where she died in her first life. When she finally gives in and takes him there, he dies that night in that bed.

I guess he isn't completely insane because of his memories from his past life, but his bloodthirstiness definitely accumulated. After the female lead died in the first life, he ended up stringing up the female lead's ex-husband and his mistress and torturing them in this meat locker. He ended up nearly bleeding them dry and making them into husks before he ends up freezing himself with the female lead's corpse. So imagine him going to kill himself and then waking up to realise that he has to live it all again, but this time, even though he gets to save the female lead, she'll still end up leaving him and potentially, reject his help.
