Chapter 159.2 - Missing an opportunity

That person seemed to hesitate before finally deciding that it was important, speaking slowly, “Assistant general, something has happened.”

“What happened?”

   

“.... I don’t know when it began but a lot of places in Liyang town are now starting to circulate that the third gentleman is dead. And that is life was claimed by aggrieved ghosts, the person who killed him was … was …”

Li Jingsheng’s heart stuttered, “Who are they spreading is the killer?!”

“.... Liu Ruyi, the Jade Rouge owner who died a few years ago.”

“Jade Rouge store?” Li Jingsheng had no recall or impression of her.

The person seemed to notice and carefully reminded him of how she died.

Li Jingsheng’s eyes suddenly widened, “How did this circulate?”

“I don’t know, this subordinate couldn’t find out either. Furthermore, there’s something even harder to deal with.”

“What thing?!” Li Jingsheng was growing impatient.

How could there be so many things going on?

Originally, he was already upset by what happened at the wedding.

But to have something from a few years crop up, and to actually relate to Li Ziqing?

It made him feel even more uncomfortable.

Just thinking about it made him recall how those hands dripping with Li Ziqing’s blood felt, that sticky and wet feeling, as the blood dribbled around his hands, made him want to throw up …

His subordinate’s words echoed by his ears, “Those few people came.”

“Which few?”

“The accomplices to the Jade Rouge murder, the ones who accompanied the third gentleman.”

“The ones we sent away? Why are they coming back now?

“I heard that it’s because they heard the rumours. They originally wanted to see the assistant general but I don’t know why, but they suddenly seemed to disappear overnight. I searched all over the capital for them but I couldn’t find them. So that’s why I wanted to report that to the assistant general.”

Li Jingsheng grew silent.

He didn’t know why but everything that happened, seemed to point back to Li Ziqing.

Furthermore, the strangeness of that night made his back feel like something was crawling up, coldness was creeping up.

Suddenly, he shook his head to make his mind grow clearer.

Li Ziqing had already died, there wouldn’t be another Li Ziqing in this world.

He didn’t know why he had to scare himself like this.

Apart from himself and his trusted aides, no one would know that Li Ziqing had already died.

He reluctantly waved his hands, “Continue to search! When you find those people, send them away immediately!”

Aggrieved ghosts claiming lives?

Hmph, and to think those people had blood stained hands, but they were scared of such things?

He continued to stagger and sway his way forward.

The gloominess in his heart grew along with frustration as he suddenly kicked the door open.

His long legs stretched forward and stepped inside the rooms.

Inside, Dongshuang and Dongxue heard noises and quickly stepped forward to greet him.

But Li Jingsheng pushed them away, bursting into Lou Lianxin’s rooms, “Get out, both of you!”

“Yes!” The two people quickly stepped up before carefully closing the door behind them.

Li Jingsheng looked inside, seeing Lou Lianxin in her red wedding robes and sitting properly on the bedside.

Her carefully made up small face was illuminated by the flickering small candle.

She was incredibly beautiful.

But it was a pity that these few months, had made all of the patience Li Jingsheng had towards her, slowly disappear.

He slowly made his way towards her.

His eagle like eyes were slightly vicious as he watched her.

Lou Lianxin had already forced herself to be calm, but when she suddenly saw Li Jingsheng’s expression, her heart started to beat quickly.

When Li Jingsheng paused in front of her, she couldn’t help but stand up to meet him.

Her red wedding veil was placed on the bedside table.

Li Jingsheng’s steps were unsteady as he nearly kneeled towards the bedside.

His palms touched the wedding veil.

The bright red triggered him as he coldly turned around, angrily glaring at Lou Lianxin, “What are you dodging for?”

“You … you’re drunk.”

Li Jingsheng’s expression was too vicious, terrifying.

Lou Lianxin was scared.

“Drunk? I’m not drunk!” He angrily forced himself closer to her, his eyes bloodshot, “Lou Lianxin, if it wasn’t for that night that you drugged me at the banquet, why would the person who is sitting here, be you?!”
