Chapter 38.2 - His anger

She looked at the sharp blade as she thought that she had been too careless this time.

She originally didn’t think that anyone would so clearly assassinate her, but quite obviously, she had overestimated their patience.

It seemed like that her actions today had clearly angered them, making them disregard everything to assassinate her like this.

She lithely dodged the first attack from the person in black but unfortunately, she wasn’t well versed in martial arts, so her arm had still been sliced.

In a moment, the smell of blood permeated the air as Lou Qingwu’s eyes darkened.

She looked at her wound which was starting to bleed quickly as her mouth curled up in a cruel smile.

If Buddha wouldn’t let her through their gates, then she would definitely enter the underworld.

Her fingers moved towards her sleeves as she reached for her poisons but in the next moment, her back went cold.

Before she could see clearly, the people in black who had surrounded her, had already had their throats sliced open.

And their killers in black had already raised their own blade, sharply and cleanly placing their swords back in their scabbards.

Then they soundlessly moved behind a man in white robe who had appeared by her side some time ago.

Lou Qingwu turned around to face the man in the white robe, her eyes moved before graciously bowing, “Subject-girl thanks the Night Prince for his help.”

Feng Yege’s clear eyes darkened in the night before warming as he heard her words.

He smiled warmly before regaining the calm and distant composure of a prince, “Miss Lou’s too gracious, this prince had only coincidentally walked past. Is your wound urgent?”

Lou Qingwu lowered her eyes as she offhandedly replied, “It’s nothing, just a skin wound. Speaking of, if it wasn’t the Night Prince who spoke up for this subject-girl, I probably wouldn’t have escaped unscathed tonight at the palace either.”

In just a few words, Lou Qingwu debased herself to the lowest position possible.

After all, the Night Prince was extremely secretive.

No one could see through him and she definitely wouldn’t reveal herself to him.

She didn’t know how much he had seen of her, but as long as she didn’t admit to anything, it wouldn’t raise his suspicions.

But once she finished speaking, the man across from her’s eyes flashed a light as his line of sight followed her fingers.

He continued to gently smile, “Miss Lou speaks too highly of this prince. Even if this prince hadn’t been at the palace tonight, I believe Miss Lou would’ve been able to resolve the situation well enough.”

There were two copies of the <All Herbal Medicine Manual>.

One of them was hidden deep in the palace library and as long as she requested the emperor to retrieve it, even if it was time consuming, it would’ve resolved her situation quite easily.

“Ah? Subject-girl doesn’t understand.” Lou Qingwu blinked and pretended to be dumb.

She lifted her head up to face the dark night sky and laughed before unwittingly changing the conversation.

“It’s already quite late, subject-girl won’t waste any more of the prince’s time and delay your way to your residence.”

Feng Yege acted as if he didn’t hear her change the conversation.

“It’s nothing, this prince has just come back the capital so I have a lot of free time.”

Lou Qingwu: “...”

Seeing Lou Qingwu’s gentle facade about to crack, Feng Yege’s dark eyes shimmered before lightly sighing.

He looked at the Uncle Zhao who was still fainting on the ground before carelessly pointing to the guards lined up behind him, “He doesn’t look like he’ll wake up any time soon. If you don’t mind, they can help you send him back?”

“This …” Lou Qingwu wanted to reject him, this Night Prince was a bit too friendly.

Furthermore, wasn’t it rumoured that he was extremely hard to get along with?

So who was this friendly person, this person that was so friendly that it was hard to reject?

“If you say so, this subject-girl will graciously accept your help.”

Feng Yege then was satisfied, his handsome face hinting at some other emotion that was hard for people to decipher.

He lifted up his hands towards the people behind him and a person in black immediately sent out a signal.

Almost immediately, a horse carriage rushed towards them and stopped in a second right before Lou Qingwu.

Lou Qingwu bid goodbye to Feng Yege and burrowed inside the horse carriage.

The royal guards followed the horse carriage, not too close and not too far, but just close enough to protect her.

They quickly left Feng Yege’s line of sight.

But the man who stayed in his original position never moved his eyes away, not until the horse carriage disappeared from his sight.

Then his originally gentle and warm smile completely disappeared, replaced with a dark and cold killing intent.

His dark eyes narrowed as a vicious coldness flashed, “Investigate clearly who employed the assassins, kill them.”

To the person who dared to touch her … they would have to suffer his wrath.
