Chapter 42.1 - Two requests

Lou Qingwu slowly took back her hands as she lifted up her head to look at him.

Mu Yunqing’s back was against the sun so she couldn’t see his face properly but because she was close to him, she could clearly feel his anxious and quickened breaths.

“Miss Lou, the rosary bead, please give it back to me.” His every phrase, every word seemed to be flowing from his mouth, impatiently, uneasily, even bringing about a few parts of despair.

Lou Qingwu froze for a moment, looking at the outstretched hand in front of her hair.

The hand was white, bony and long, and was trembling.

She silently placed the rosary bead onto his palm and Mu Yunqing’s hand seemed to close in a second.

His knuckles gripped tight, the veins of his hands were almost bulging and blue.

He placed the recovered rosary bead close to his chest.

Lou Qingwu stepped back a step and then, could finally see his face closely.

His face was so white that it was almost frightening and his whole body was pulled so tightly that it seemed like he was about to fall apart any moment.

Lou Qingwu silently observed him, her eyes flashing a hint of strangeness before hiding it.

It was like she was watching a mime as she watched Mu Yunqing slowly recover back to normal, and as if he noticed his actions were inappropriate, reluctantly pulled together a smile.

He straightened his body and almost staggering, walked forward.

She watched him until his silhouette completely disappeared inside the palace, then lifted up her head to meet Xiahou Ri’s questioning gaze.

She raised a brow, “Why is the second prince looking at me?”

Xiahou Rui silently took back his gaze, was silent for a moment, but couldn’t help but say, “Mu young official has a wife and concubines.”

Lou Qingwu questioningly raised a brow, “And?”

Xiahou Rui’s expression became even stranger, “If you want to take revenge on Li JIngsheng, you don’t have to take aim at his brother-in-law … “

Lou Qingwu: “....”

“You can actually find an even stronger person than Li Jingsheng to marry, and you can take revenge too.”

Lou Qingwu silently lifted up her hands, “Like?”

XIahou Rui’s coldly handsome face twisted a bit and after a long while, his lips finally darkly spat out a name, “ …. Seventh brother.”

Lou Qingwu couldn’t help but palm her forehead.

Why did he think that she liked Mu Yunqing?

Also, where would that rogue Xiahou Liuyun be stronger than him?

She silently turned around, thinking, having too strong of an imagination was also a type of sickness, he should go get that looked at.

Xiahou Rui silently watched her leaving figure and in half a moment, lifted up his hands to cover up his face, hiding the flash of frustration in his eyes.

On the other side of town, Ruan Zhen was following the Ruan family’s housekeeper to the main hall.

She stood at the entrance, raising her eyes to meet the middle aged man sitting in the master’s seat.

His face was stern and solemn, especially when he met her gaze. His brows furrowed in the middle and became even tighter.

Ruan Zhen smiled as she stepped towards him, standing in the middle of the hall.

She called out, “Big brother.”

Ruan Zhen’s family head Ruan Xiuren coldly looked at her but didn’t speak.

He only waved away the housekeeper as the latter stepped back, closing the door behind him as he left.

The room instantly darkened but Ruan Zhen could still feel his impatience.

He definitely had a reason to be impatient.

These years, for the Lou family, for Lou Lianxin, she’d come to the Ruan family numerous times to beg him to pave her path for her.

But even if he was unwilling every time, he had no choice but to agree to her requests.

It was only the two of them here so there was no need to waste time on those useless formalities.

He didn’t bother with her so Ruan Zhen just sat below the master’s seat, narrowed her eyes as she continued to warmly smile.

But her face only made the Ruan family’s head’s face become darker.

“I already know about that affair, what else do ou want?” If he wasn’t afraid of her ruining his own affairs, how could he bear for her to continue making all of these outrageous requests, pushing him past his line again and again?

One hundred thousand gold ingots wasn’t a paltry sum, just look at how her good daughter could do things!

“Big brother, seeing as how I’ve already come here, then I won’t beat around the bush. I have something to request of you.”

Was Xiahou Rui jealous or was he jealous? ALL ABOARD THE SHIP.

He was definitely going to say his name ahhhhhh!!! The original is that he covers up his expressionless face - expressionless face being those faces that barely show expressions/facial paralysis. It was hard to add in when really, he was just being shy.
